rose lindo surface design & art licensing

meet rose:

Hey there! I’m a surface pattern designer & illustrator on the constant hunt to make life a little more simple & a lot more beautiful. I believe in treating people with kindness & embracing authenticity. It is my goal to be inclusive, loving, & helpful to as many people as possible. Design is the universal language that allows people to solve problems & translate ideas when words don’t do the trick. With a little creativity, anything is possible.

"AS THE YOUNGEST OF 8 KIDS IN A TINY OKLAHOMA TOWN, CREATIVITY SERVED AS A MAGIC PORTAL THAT COULD TAKE ME ANY PLACE I WANTED TO GO.”

With so many siblings and my parents' super strict budget, gymnastics classes & piano lessons were out of the question. Instead, we transformed sticks into fishing poles & put on theatrical productions in our neighbor’s back yard.

Creativity has always played a huge role in my life from a very early age. I was always the quiet, artsy girl who spent more lunches than I can count in the art room instead of in the cafeteria.

After dropping out of college mid-semester of my senior year, I moved to Austin, TX to follow my dreams. Being young and naive, the next few years weren't quite as dreamy as I thought they'd be. Instead of landing a full-time gig at a fancy marketing agency, I ended up waiting tables for longer than I'd like to admit before taking out a personal loan for a failing design studio. My next (itty bitty) paycheck bounced, and it was time to hit the drawing board again (quite literally).

With the encouragement from a couple of friends, in 2009, I took the leap and started my own design business. Through word of mouth, clients slowly but surely started trickling in, and this little biz was born. While the offerings have changed throughout the years, my goal has always been the same - to deliver carefully crafted designs on the best quality products I can find so people can experience more joy & beauty in their lives.

Today, I am grateful to get to work from home with my husband, Thomas & our daughter, Griffin. Griffin is the inspiration behind the majority of my work. While I am much more of a tomboy, she loves everything pink, sparkly, & ultra feminine. Whenever it came time to look for decorations for her room, I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for. Instead, I wound up making my own art prints and wallpaper. Together, we make a great team - she’s the yin to my yang & the feisty, stubborn child we never knew we needed.

My work has been licensed to companies all over the globe as nursery wallpaper, fabric, and stationery and has been featured in places like Anthropologie, West Elm, Southern Living, & Canva. Seeing my designs printed on tangible products is a dream I’ve had for more years than I can count. Follow along on Instagram at @roselindoco - I’d love to hear from you!
